Apple Custard Pie Recipe

Preparation time: 20 minutes
Baking time: 40 minutes
Servings: 8

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs

  • 250 g ricotta

  • 270 g flour

  • 15 g sugar

  • 1 packet baking powder

  • 40 ml oil

  • 3 apples

  • Sugar for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the custard:
Cook a basic custard using milk, egg yolk, and sugar. Set aside and allow it to cool completely.

  2. Mix the batter:
Add ricotta and sugar into a bowl and blend well. Mix in the eggs, then the oil. An electric mixer may make this step easier.

  3. Add dry ingredients:
Gradually incorporate the flour and baking powder, mixing gently from bottom to top.

  4. Prepare the pan:
Grease and flour a 22 cm detachable baking tin. Pour in the batter and spread evenly.

  5. Add apples and custard:
Arrange sliced apples over the batter, then pour the cooled custard on top.

  6. Bake:
Bake at 180°C (350°F) for about 35 minutes until the surface is golden.

  7. Finishing touches:
Allow the pie to cool, then sprinkle lightly with sugar.

Tip:
Placing the apple slices before the custard helps them stay near the surface rather than sinking during baking.

Storage

Store the pie in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Longer storage is not recommended due to the custard.
